Year of the Dawg

I’m completely humbled by all the congratulatory wishes everyone sent my way after I announced my departure from Behavior and my impending job at The New York Times. Really, it’s touching, and I thank everyone for their kind thoughts; I also take seriously the sentiment perhaps most eloquently expressed by my friend Todd: one of the most important things I can do with this opportunity is to not fuck it up.

My first day on the job isn’t until mid-January; I’ll be keeping busy between now and then with some projects and loose ends that need to be tied up. I’ll also be trying to work my way through all the emails I got, trying to respond to most all of them within the next few days — bear with me if you’re waiting for a reply. In the meantime, I thought I’d wish everyone a great 2006 with this picture I took this afternoon — Mister President, on the couch, ready for the future. Happy new year!
