Camera Production in the Age of Smartphones

This Petapixel post from last week shocked me. Not long ago the site shared this graphic of how camera sales have grown and shrunken over time, as measured by the Japanese-based Camera & Imaging Products Assocations (CIPA) and as charted by Mayflower Concepts.

The story it tells is stark on its own, but then photographer Sven Skafisk amended the chart to account for the explosive growth of camera-enabled smartphones over the past decade. The new graphic is startling in its scale. Keep scrolling.
